Track Record of consistency or overturned justice?

"Judges, therefore, should always be men of learning and experience in the laws, of exemplary morals, great patience, coolness, and attention. Their minds should not be distracted with jarring interests; they should not be dependent upon any man, or body of men." John Adams

"That President Obama has made 'empathy' with certain groups one of his criteria for choosing a Supreme Court nominee is a dangerous sign of how much further the Supreme Court nominee may be pushed away from the rule of law and toward even more arbitrary judicial edicts to advance the agenda of the left and set it in legal concrete, immune from the democratic process. would you want to go to court to appear before a judge with 'empathy' for groups A, B and C, if you were a member of groups X, Y or Z? Nothing could be further from the Rule Of Law. - Hoover Institution economist Thomas Sowell.

"There is a reason that Lady Justice wears a blindfold. Justice is supposed to be blind to the race, gender, finances, policitcs - and every other 'empathy'-eliciting - characteristic of those who seek it in good faith" - columnist Carol Platt

Why does Lady Justice have hers eyes behind a blindfold?

"Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence."

Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for the profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety and prospertiy, and happiness require it.

-John Adams

Memorial Day

Although our family first immigrated to the USA in the early 1900s, it has taken some time for the culture and laws to accept us and consider us woven into the fabric of this nation. Nevertheless, my grandfather served with honor in the U.S. military during WWII defending with the Allies stationed in Europe; he and his family and legacy are forever affected by it. I do not like war with its toll on innocence and lives, the environment, our lifestyle, but sometimes if evil threatens our values and faith, it is necessary to take a stand for LIFE, LIBERTY and the PURSUIT of HAPPINESS. Freedom is not free, it must be valued and treasured, not taken for granted or abused. What is the meaning of American citizenship? In a democracy, are we the people responsible for what our government does or do not do, when we agree or do not agree with some of its policies? How do other nations view us? What are the values and beliefs we exemplify for our future generations? What is "right" and what is "wrong"? Happy Memorial Day!

The Lord's Prayer

Psalm 123
A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven.
2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the LORD our God,
till he shows us his mercy.
3 Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy on us,
for we have endured much contempt.
4 We have endured much ridicule from the proud,
much contempt from the arrogant.

PATER noster, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

May 7th: NATIONAL Day of Prayer (est. in 1952 by the US Congress)

Philippians 4:6 “Do not be anxious about anything but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

The History Of National Day Of Prayer

Because of the faith of many of our founding fathers, public prayer and national days of prayer have a long-standing and significant history in American tradition. The Supreme Court affirmed the right of state legislatures to open their sessions with prayer in Marsh vs. Chambers (1983).The National Day of Prayer is a vital part of our heritage. Since the first call to prayer in 1775, when the Continental Congress asked the colonies to pray for wisdom in forming a nation, the call to prayer has continued through our history, including President Lincoln's proclamation of a day of "humiliation, fasting, and prayer" in 1863. In 1952, a joint resolution by Congress, signed by President Truman, declared an annual, national day of prayer. In 1988, the law was amended and signed by President Reagan, permanently setting the day as the first Thursday of every May. Each year, the president signs a proclamation, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day. Last year, all 50 state governors plus the governors of several U.S. territories signed similar proclamations.

The National Day of Prayer is Significant
The National Day of Prayer has great significance for us as a nation. It enables us to recall and to teach the way in which our founding fathers sought the wisdom of God when faced with critical decisions. It stands as a call to us to humbly come before God, seeking His guidance for our leaders and His grace upon us as a people. The unanimous passage of the bill establishing the National Day of Prayer as an annual event, signifies that prayer is as important to our nation today as it was in the beginning.

Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

We're daughters and mothers
Not so long ago.
We give and take
And take and give
Along time's endless row.
Love is passed
And love received
To be passed on again:
A precious heirloom
Twice, twice blessed,
A spiritual cardigan.
I'll put it on
And treasure it,
The me I have received,
And when the roles
Reverse again,
I'll have what I most need.
So may our love
Go on and on,
A hundred thousand years;
Mothers and daughters,
Daughters and mothers,
Through joys and other tears.

Mother's Day is May 10th!
